Safe arrival at Tamil-Nadu Theological Seminary

Saturday 29th June 2013: lots of hours travelling and three airplane flights later we arrived safely at our destination. We were met by students from the Seminary who made us feel very welcome and drove us from the airport to the seminary.

We were instantly hit by a combination of heat, different smells and sights… and the way the traffic on the road runs is amazing. We passed goats, chickens and cows that were by the roadside, I even saw a man milking one of the cows as he sat on the edge of the pavement.

30th June: We were given quite a restful day today, we went to the church of Divine Patience to experience an Indian English act of worship. Very traditional and use of old English language, some of it I found difficult to keep up with as they spoke very fast. I think my biggest surprise was the use of technology, the electric piano was ok. Following the service on the projected screen just seemed rather out of place from what I expected.

Later in the morning we split into two groups and went exploring, we even managed to get across a couple of main roads without any accidents was impressive. After lunch I think most of us just rested after such a long journey…

This evening we have been welcomed by the Seminary community. We were given a very warm welcome, each presented with a garland at the beginning of evening worship. Afterwards the whole community ate together outdoors. We are having a lovely time, though lectures start tomorrow!

Glad you have arrived safely and had a good install day. Look forward to hearing more about your time in TN. Watch out for all the mosquitoes, I get terrible bites at TTS. X
