Psa 138:1 Of David. I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise;
Generous and loving creator, with the whole of creation we rejoice and magnify the marvellous beauty of the universe.
Psa 138:2 I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for you have exalted your name and your word above everything.
We lift up our voices amongst the trees of the forests and from the hilltops to spread the wonder of your love and faithfulness towards each one of us.
Psa 138:3 On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul.
You walk with us every moment of every day, there to listen, comfort and support.
Psa 138:4 All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth.
Creation extols all that it hears of your works, the words of scripture come to life through its beauty, purpose and design.
Psa 138:5 They shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD.
The air breathes, the brook babbles, the grass whispers and the trees rustle. The birds of the air, the animals of the earth and sea all in their own voices sing of the glory of the creator.
Psa 138:6 For though the LORD is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he perceives from far away.
The creator is all around us, in everything, but we need to look, to stop and open our eyes as often we struggle to see the wood for the trees.
Psa 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me.
The mist amongst the trees conceals the dangers surrounding us, keeping us safe out of sight. In creation we find our safety, our solace, the outstretching of your arms surrounding us.
Psa 138:8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.
In this world we find our purpose for our lives, we see your devotion and love for all you have created. Your creativity ignites in us the desire to care for creation and each other. We become your partners through your covenant promise for eternity.
